History

Muscat is a very ancient grape variety, first mentioned in 1510. Of eastern origin and very different to the sweet Muscats, it is the result of a blend of two grape varieties, Muscat d’Alsace grapes and Muscat Ottonel. (Blended in equal proportions at Domaines Schlumberger).

Location

Muscat is a delicate, very sensitive, grape variety. This wine mainly comes from the BOLLENBERG and BUX plots. Being very difficult, our Muscat is unfortunately not available every year.

Wine-making

A blend, in equal proportions, of two varieties of Muscat d’Alsace and Muscat Ottonel. Pressed pneumatically, Static settling of the must. Fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. Bottled at the beginning of Spring.

Gastronomy

The structure is sinewy and light but in no way loses its concentration of aromas from these wonderful grape varieties. Should be immediately recommended to connoisseurs of Muscat as an aperitif or with gingered salmon blinis. Ideal serving temperature 11°C.

Tasting

The robe is light yellow with green reflections of average intensity. The disk is bright, limpid, transparent. The wine presents a beautiful youth. The nose is frank, pleasant and bold with an average intensity. There is a dominant of floral fragrances, of lilies, spices, ginger and fruit, pear and citrus fruit. Airing enhances the floral scents of pepper mint and chlorophyll, giving the nose a splendidly typical aroma. The onset in the mouth is slightly fleshy backed by the alcoholic base. The register is sharp and shows aromas of ginger, citrus fruit and pepper mint, with a bold floral character. There is a slight hint of bitterness. A long length on the finish, 7 caudalies and a sharp vivacity.
